Research in the Department includes the development of AI methods such as: recommendation systems, conversational systems, music generation with specific emotions, artificial immune systems and their use in network and system security, granular computing and the Polish School of Artificial Intelligence (rough set theory), FPGA systems and their use in hardware implementations of AI methods. The Department also works on RAM memory testing, focusing on transparent tests and their BIST implementations (Built-In Self-Test).<\/p>\n
The staff of the Department teach courses related to artificial intelligence, with a special focus on the design and application of advanced AI systems and data mining. They also conduct classes in the areas of computer networks and network security.<\/p>\n
In addition, courses are offered in database systems, web application design and development, mobile device programming, and topics related to the Internet of Things (IoT).<\/p>\n
The Department also offers, at the Master\u2019s level, a specialization called \u201cIntelligent Internet Technologies\u201d, as well as two postgraduate programs:<\/p>\n
\n- Security of Computer Systems and Networks<\/li>\n
- Cybersecurity \u2013 Practical Threat Analysis<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
The Department runs a student research group called \u201cGo Security\u201d, focused on cybersecurity. The group\u2019s meetings take the form of practical workshops and lectures conducted in cooperation with experts from EY Technology Consulting.<\/p>\n
The Department\u2019s employees have performed and continue to perform important organisational functions in the authorities of the Faculty of Computer Science.<\/p>\n
For many years, the department staff have been co-organisers of the Wojew\u00f3dzki Konkurs Informatyczny for primary schools. They conduct cyclic lectures for high school students, e.g. for the Zesp\u00f3\u0142 Szk\u00f3\u0142 Elektrycznych in Bia\u0142ystok, or online lectures as part of cooperation with the Centrum Kompetencji Bia\u0142ostockiego Obszaru Funkcjonalnego, and they conduct classes for children as part of the Podlaski Uniwersytet Dzieci\u0119cy. Moreover, they actively participated in the organisation of the last two editions of the Programistok programming conference, which took place at the Bia\u0142ystok University of Technology. For several years they were also mentors to teams as part of the ImagineCup competition.<\/p>\n
