Computer Science, specialization Biometrics and Signal Processing

After this master course you may continue education at 3rd degree level studies.

Graduates of computer science studies will:

  • have general knowledge of computer science, at least in the scope of all basic and specialized content appropriate for master’s studies in computer science,
  • be prepared to conduct scientific research, they will know and be able to use research methodologies used in computer science,
  • possess knowledge and skills enabling them to solve computer problems – also in non-standard situations,
  • be able to express opinions on issues related to computer science based on incomplete or limited information while adhering to legal and ethical principles,
  • be able to discuss computer-related topics with both specialists and non-specialists, as well as lead team work,
  • possess skills enabling them to work in IT companies, including performing managerial functions in project and programming teams,
  • be familiar with issues related to IT project management and best practices in this area,
  • have ingrained habits of continuous professional development and be prepared to undertake education in a doctoral school.

Graduates of the Biometrics and Signal Processing specialization will have comprehensive knowledge focused on creating solutions using knowledge from multiple IT disciplines, especially in the following areas:

  • biometrics applications,
  • design and programming of advanced web applications, e.g., JavaScript, node.js, Angular, and React,
  • design of applications and user interfaces utilizing Natural User Interface (NUI) interactive communication methods, e.g., touch screens, gestures, voice commands,
  • standards and algorithms of computer graphics and visualization methods (2D and 3D) in virtual and augmented reality systems,
  • design and programming of applications for mobile devices (phones, tablets), with particular emphasis on GUI interface design and the use of video, audio, and image processing libraries,
  • transmission in computer networks (wired and wireless), including real-time media streaming,
  • multimedia software engineering, including games using recognized standards and technologies, as well as specialized hardware such as graphic accelerators and signal processors,
  • design and operation of multimedia systems.
